Both the SignUpGenius slot and the Google Form must be completed to be considered for casting.

• Bob Martindale - 30s-40s, A WWII veteran, reserved. A bit bookish, but a solid man's man. Good-humored and well-mannered.

• Millie Martindale - late 20s-30s,  Bob's wife. Plays "The dizzy wife" when people are in the house, but actually very quick-witted and observant. Smart enough to maintain the act. 

• Norma Baxter - 30s, The knowing, efficient, classy dame. A secretary at the State Department who could just as easily be Secretary of State. A smart woman who's great with a wisecrack and level-headed in a bind.​

• Jim Baxter - 20s-30s, Norma's husband. A prankster type, always ready with a comeback. A high school teacher with lots of energy. A little wired, good with a plan. 

• Theodore Sunderson - 40s-50s, The boss. Bombastic, loud, a little overbearing. A patriotic windbag.

• Kitty Sunderson - 40s, Ted's wife. Legitimately ditzy. Her brain seems to work on a totally different wavelength than the rest of the world. Very sweet, and very genuine. Just doesn't quite "get it".

• Barbara Grant - 40s, A formidable opponent. No-nonsense, beautiful, brilliant, and a little scary.

A Note on Intimacy

Perfect Arrangement includes moments of intimacy as part of its storytelling. Rebel Phoenix Theatre Collective is committed to fostering a rehearsal and performance environment that is safe, professional, and respectful for all involved.

​

For this production, all four lead roles engage in both same-gender and opposite-gender kissing, as well as moments of staged intimate physical contact. A detailed breakdown of all intimate moments will be provided at auditions.

​

Important:

All moments of intimacy will be fully choreographed and overseen by a trained Intimacy Coordinator, who will be present for rehearsals and performances involving intimate content.

​

Actor boundaries are central to this process. All work will be conducted with clear communication, ongoing consent, and the active participation of the actors at every stage.

Crew & Production Opportunities

We are also seeking team members to join the production:

• Stage Manager – Runs rehearsals, keeps schedules, and calls cues.

• Dramaturg – Provides research and context for the creative team.

• Props Designer – Sources and builds props.

• Run Crew – Assists backstage during tech and performances.

• Board Operators (Lights & Sound) – Run cues during technical rehearsals and performances.

About the Author:

Topher Payne:

In 2014, The American Theatre Critics Association awarded Topher Payne’s play Perfect Arrangement the M. Elizabeth Osborn Prize for Best Play by an Emerging Playwright. The play went on to be produced off-Broadway in 2015 by Primary Stages and MARS Theatricals, and was a finalist for a 2017 Lambda Literary Award. He was the 2018 inductee into the Georgia Theatre Hall of Fame.

His other works for the stage include Evelyn in Purgatory, Swell Party, The Only Light in Reno and Angry Fags. He has scripted five films for The Hallmark Channel: My Summer Prince, Broadcasting Christmas, Rome in Love and A Gift to Remember I and II. Topher is a three-time winner of The Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award. He has been named Atlanta’s Best Local Playwright by readers of Creative Loafing seven times, and received the 2016 Suzi Bass Award for Outstanding World Premiere for the holiday comedy Let Nothing You Dismay.

His latest work, You Enjoy Myself, premiered in 2023 at Local Theater Company in Colorado.
